I had a run yesterday! My first in two weeks, and my knees were fine so I went for 50 minutes. I have been taking meticulous care of them (I massage and ice every morning at the trainer's.) This is awesome because it means I'm in the home meet on the 22nd.
Dad emailed some pictures with captions:
Dad: Your closet had one gold shoe, why only one? Maybe you have it.
Kate: I lost that one at a meet last year, but it doesn't matter because I have a newer pair of the same model here. And I lost two Sauconys (I think) at SWCC but there was only one in the Lost&Found. One might string it up over the front desk and see if it stridulates for its partner.
Dad: Aaron on his first day of school.
Kate: Aaron on his last morning of freedom.

Mom: what do you want me to bring for you?
Me: Here's the working list
-Christmas lights you don't want
-America (The Book) by Jon Stewart, middle shelf of big bookcase/dresser
-Spiderman OR Pilgrimage climbing poster, only I think they both have to be fixed
-Poppa John's cameras
-tap & ballet shoes, plastic blue basket in closet
-black skate shoes
-these winter clothes (+ hangars):
-green wool Goodwill sweater -dressy pants/shirts/jacket
-black dress
-colorful scarf, gloves, snow gloves, hats
-dress-up box scarves
-hiking boots
. . . hey, what about the Danner boots? what was the model . . . the best shoe is reddish and the plainest one, they said . . . oh, here it is, the Mountain Light II: http://www.danner.com/category/outdoor+boots/all+terrain.do?page=all
Kate:
I can't believe you posted that picture of me for the world to see.
I will do my best to bring the things you listed. Did you get a pillow? Dad got a new one for Aaron, actually two because A. didn't like the first, so now we have a new p. if you want it; it's made out of a "down alternative" so it's kind of squishy, but not as squishy as down.
When I come to visit I will fly into Denver, rent a car and drive to C.S. So, I don't really want to drive you to Denver to see friends, then back to C.S. to drop you off, then back to Denver to leave. Besides, when would we do that? I get into Denver at 10:30 a.m. Friday so will be at C.S. by lunch & figured you could show me around a little & I could take you shopping and out for that steak dinner you wanted - unless you have pre-race stuff to attend to. If so, we'll do the steak dinner Saturday night. Saturday is the meet & I don't know how much time that will take. Sunday my flight leaves at 5 p.m. so I'm around most of the day but figured you might have homework & I could hang out with our friends in Denver part of the day. Let me know what you think of that schedule, or if you have other ideas.
BTW, I'd love to meet your roommate & would be happy to take her and/or other friends out for a meal, but the steak dinner is just for us.
I'll see about the Danner boots.
Mom
P.S. I would consider driving you to the Air Force Academy to see Brendan, but can you contact him to make those arrangements?
Yes, I bought a pillow.
Photo! . . . *snarky laugh*
The old camera from Papa John won't be fixed in time for me to bring it - do you want my Minox w/flash instead? It's small so I could bring it to show you.
M
Is that one digital?
No, it's not. It's the one I took to Europe in 1985.
Kate: Glad to hear you are running. I was on the DL myself yesterday, bruised heel playing b-ball. Don't forget to ice after. As for Mom's old camera, I'll email you a picture.
Dad
The Danner boot you listed is $250+. Maybe for Christmas. Meanwhile, do you existing hiking books fit?
The refuse to bring the black skate shoes with the gigantic hole on the side.
Everything else is OK..

I just filled you in on the family party Sat. night for Patrick's 21st He was home this weekend for his cousin Heather's Fri wedding but it was canceled only Wed. by the weird groom. How's that for a shocker to the bride. Stay healthy, keep running hard & studying too. Love, Grandma.
Me again: Couldn't fit it all in, but they only allow 300 characters & I have been writing much more. wanted to say . . Are you going to church/Mass too? Hope so! Don't eliminate that old "rock" part of your life in the new one you are forming today. Love again, Grandma.
